Engineering Surveyor – Earthworks / Infrastructure

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum plus package

Overview

A leading earthworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Engineering Surveyor to join their team on the Sizewell C project—one of the largest infrastructure projects currently underway in the UK.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of major earthworks and infrastructure packages, providing accurate surveying, setting out, and data management to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with specification.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Surveyor with experience in earthworks, highways, or heavy civils to join a long-term project, with schemes of this scale typically running for 5–6 years, offering strong career progression and stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out site surveys and setting out using GPS/GNSS, total stations, and levelling equipment

• Support delivery of earthworks, drainage, and infrastructure packages

• Process and manage survey data using software such as Trimble Business Center, LSS, or N4CE

• Produce accurate as-built surveys, volumes, and reports

• Provide survey control and ensure accuracy of line, level, and position across site

• Work closely with engineers and site teams to support construction activities

• Assist in cut/fill analysis and volume calculations for earthworks operations

• Manage and maintain survey equipment and ensure calibration is up to date

• Support QA processes including survey checks and validation of works

• Assist in resolving site issues related to levels, setting out, and design discrepancies

Skills and Experience Required

• Experience as a Surveyor or Engineering Surveyor within civils, earthworks, or infrastructure

• Proficient in Trimble Business Center, LSS, N4CE or similar survey software

• Strong experience with GPS/GNSS, total stations, and levelling equipment

• Good understanding of earthworks, highways, or heavy civils projects

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with site teams

Desirable

• HNC/HND or Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline

• Experience working on major infrastructure projects (HS2, highways, energy, etc.)

• Knowledge of machine control and digital construction workflows

• Experience with drone surveys or point cloud data
