1. York Maze
Steer boats. Play crazy golf. Race quads, Crawl, climb, bounce and slide on the many play areas. Plus see dinosaurs in their infamous maze. A great day out for children in York. But make sure you check their website before you go as the maze is only open from July to September .

2. Cannon Hall Farm
From sheep racing to iguana petting, this is an action packed farm. With a huge indoor play area for wet days and multiple, expansive outdoor play areas for every age, this farm has it all in Barnsley. Plus they also do lots of special events across the holidays, listed on their Facebook page. Oh, and did we mention they have amazing food, a dog cafe and a farm shop!

3. Coastal Trip To Whitby
Who doesn’t love a trip to the seaside and Whitby is one of the finest coastal trips for kids. With arcades, culture, shops, boat trips, walks, golden clear sands and the finest fish and chips in Britain, this seaside town offers a full day out.
Oh, and better still it’s a free adventure day, as there’s no entrance fee!

4. Yorkshire Wildlife Park
This has always been our kids favourite zoo. Where else can you see bears and lions in Yorkshire? This magical animal conservation park offers a real walk with the wild. Plus with a massive indoor play area and multiple magnificant outdoor play areas, its has something for everyone.

5. Flamingo Land
A great theme park which combines an award-winning zoo with some white-knuckle rides. And don’t worry if you have littleones, they have a Peter Rabbit CBeebies area and rides suitable for toddlers too. It’s an action-packed day full of fun and located in the North Yorkshire Moors, just outside Malton. However, do shop around online to make sure you get the best value tickets.

6. Lightwater Valley
Here you can ride Europe’s largest rollercoaster, The Ultimate. Lightwater Valley is a long-standing, great family day out in Ripon. Once again, being a family-focused adventure park, there are rides suitable for every age from babies to grandparents. And for train enthusiasts, there’s a cute little steamy that gets your around.

7. National Coal Museum
This is a FREE day out! And it’s more than just a museum to show the history of mining. It offers underground trips, ponies, an under 5’s indoor play area & a newly built larger outdoor adventure playground. Better still, every summer is “seaside at the pit” with giant sandpits, train rides, donkeys, BBQ’s, crafts and more. So grab a bucket & spade and head to Wakefield.

8. The Deep
When it’s rainy outside where could be better than one of the UK’s largest indoor aquariums? From sharks to seahorses, see the biggest, most magnificent sea creatures at The Deep in Hull. Better still, if you’re a Yorkshiremen (or lady) who likes a deal, they offer 10% discount by pre-booking online. And, your single ticket gives you unlimited access for a full year.

9. Diggerland Yorkshire
This award-winning attraction is the perfect place for tractor or digger-crazy children. From Spindizzy rides and Go-Karts to JCB ride-ons and play areas, it’s where adults and kids can play with and operate real construction machines. There are 4 locations across the UK but our favourite has always been Castleford. However, do make sure you pre-book online, as it works out a lot cheaper!

10. Tropical World & Roundhay Park
Here we have combined 2 activities together, to make a full day. Tropical World is a journey through the rainforest, where you will see lizards, butterflies, snakes and many wonderful creatures. Once you adapt to the heat, its a great indoor attraction for both sunny or rainy days.
Combine this with a picnic, playground visit and run around Roundhay Park and you have the perfect, low-cost day out in Leeds.
